Miss Purl doesn’t play small,
she expands

Beginning September 1, 2025 Miss Purl’s brick and mortar location will be come Miss Purl’s The Making Room – a creative hub for fiber arts, connection, and intentional making.

This page is your go-to space for answers, updates, and everything you need to feel confident and inspired as we stitch this new chapter together.

Welcome to Miss Purl’s New Chapter

We’re so glad you’re here. Miss Purl is evolving—and we want you to be part of it. Starting September 1, our brick-and-mortar space will become Miss Purl’s
The Making Room: a creative hub for fiber arts classes, studio hours, community events, and maker residencies. We’re expanding beyond the traditional yarn store model to focus on intentional making, curated materials, and community-centered experiences.

What does this mean for you?

We’re doubling down on our commitment to help you slow down, connect, and craft with intention. The Making Room is designed to be a nurturing space where your creativity can thrive—aligned with your values and your pace.

We’re also expanding beyond from general retail to focus on purposeful materials.

A space where learning is intentional, materials are purposeful, and creativity feels like a gift—not a competition.

Got questions? We’ve got you.

Right now, you’ll find a FAQ page below with answers to the most common questions. But that’s just the beginning.

That page will grow into what we’ll call the The Thread —the place to find updates, announcements, and behind-the-scenes peeks as we stitch this new chapter together.

We want you to be part of this expansion, just like you were when we first built out the physical space. So we’ll keep you in the loop every step of the way—loop by loop, row by row.

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the heart-to-heart section of Miss Purl.

We’re in a season of transformation—moving from shelves of yarn to circles of makers, from retail to relationships, from products to possibilities. This isn’t just a pivot; it’s a creative leap. And like any good leap, it comes with questions.

Miss Purl is A Home for Makers. A place where classes, workshops, and open studio hours take center stage. It’s a new rhythm, and we’re dancing our way into it—one stitch, one story, one shared moment at a time.

I’m building something that doesn’t exist yet. It’s experimental, intentional, and deeply rooted in community. So if you’re wondering what’s changing, what’s staying, or how to join in—this FAQ is for you. I’ll share what I know now, and keep updating as we grow together.

Questions are invitations. Let’s explore them, together.

  • Miss Purl is now a Home for Makers. It’s a creative space where people come to learn, make, and reconnect with their creativity through fiber arts. It’s no longer a traditional yarn store.

  • The Making Room is the heart of Miss Purl’s new model. It’s an intentional fiber arts space where we host:

    • Classes and workshops (membership or à la carte)

    • Open studio hours (membership only)

    • Curated kits and tools

    • Monthly community activations

    • Artisan residencies

  • Yes, but only as part of curated kits, yarn, and tools that support our classes and workshops. We’re moving away from general retail to focus on purposeful materials and intentional shopping.

  • Miss Purl also shows up in the world through:

    • Pop-up events in neighborhoods near you

    • On-site teaching for schools, organizations, and community partners

    • An online community hub where you can learn, share, and stay inspired—wherever you are

  • We’re rolling out the new model in September, starting with our fall class schedule. The announcement is happening now so you can be part of the journey from the beginning.

  • This transition means more intentional, enriching experiences for you as a maker:

    • Expanded access to The Making Room through open studio hours

    • A focused shopping experience with curated kits and tools aligned with Miss Purl’s seasonal classes, events, and featured pop-ups

    • Online shopping with local pickup options

    • More ways to engage through events and our online hub

  • Yes! While open studio hours are for members only, we welcome everyone to attend public events, pop-ups, and to pick up online orders in-store. You can also join classes and workshops à la carte.

  • We’ll offer different membership tiers to fit your creative lifestyle. Each tier includes options like open studio hours, discounts on classes, and other perks.

  • Absolutely. Our kits, classes, and events are designed to guide and inspire you—and we’re always happy to help you find the right fit.

  • You’ll still be able to shop select yarns online and pick them up in-store. While we’re focusing on purposeful materials, we’ll continue to offer beautiful options that support your creativity.

  • Open houses begin after our break (August 3–22). You’ll get to explore The Making Room, preview classes, and get a feel for our new flow.

  • Yes—but not in the traditional sense. We’re moving away from general brick and mortar retail and open shopping hours. Instead, you’ll find curated kits, yarn, and tools that support our seasonal classes, workshops, and featured pop-ups.

  • Memberships will be available starting at the end of August during our Open Houses and through our website. Each tier offers different benefits—from studio access to exclusive workshops.

  • Studio hours are reserved for members, but many of our events and workshops will be open to the public or available à la carte.

  • One of the things I’ve always loved most about Miss Purl is the way people connect here—how a shared laugh over dropped stitches turns into trading phone numbers, how a casual chat becomes a creative friendship. That spirit of connection is at the heart of everything we do.

So we’re expanding that magic into a virtual space—a cozy corner of the internet where you can chat with fellow makers, join make-alongs, share your wins (and your works-in-progress), and feel part of something bigger, no matter where you are.
